Doka, Greece and Sarchí (Cart Factory)

This tour begins with a wonderful journey through some of the largest coffee plantations in the country, known as Hacienda Doka, located at about 1350 meters (4500 feet) above sea level, where we will tour the place observing the process and machinery used to produce our golden bean.
Description:

Discover the best of Costa Rican nature, culture and traditions in an experience that combines stunning volcanic landscapes, world-class coffee and charming towns typical of the Central Valley.

Our first visit will be to the majestic Poás Volcano National Park, one of the most impressive and visited volcanoes in Costa Rica. Located at an approximate altitude of 2,708 meters above sea level (8,000 feet), this colossus offers spectacular views of its main crater, considered one of the largest in the world. During the visit we will walk the park’s trails surrounded by lush cloud forest, where we will be able to appreciate the richness of the mountain ecosystems and observe the characteristic sulfur fumaroles that show the geothermal activity of the volcano.

Later we will descend towards the renowned Hacienda Doka Estate, a historic coffee farm located on the fertile slopes of the volcano. There we will enjoy a delicious lunch and we will have the opportunity to learn in detail the entire coffee production process, from planting and harvesting to roasting and packaging. We will learn why Costa Rican coffee is considered one of the best in the world and we will discover the importance of this crop in the history and economy of the country.

We will continue our tour to the city of Grecia, internationally recognized for its cleanliness, order and quality of life. Founded in 1838, this charming city is home to one of the most unique architectural monuments in Central America: the famous Metallic Church of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes. Built entirely of iron and brought from Europe at the end of the 19th century, this architectural jewel constitutes an important symbol of identity for its inhabitants. We will also have the opportunity to visit the Central Market, where we can observe up close the daily life and traditions of Costa Ricans.

Our next stop will be Sarchí, known as the cradle of Costa Rican crafts. This picturesque town is famous for its workshops specialized in the production of wooden crafts and, especially, for the manufacture of traditional hand-decorated carts, considered a national symbol of Costa Rica.

We will visit an artisan factory where we can observe artisans working carefully on the creation and decoration of carts, furniture and other pieces made with techniques passed down from generation to generation. In addition, we will have time to visit the craft stores and purchase souvenirs, souvenirs and typical products of excellent quality.

Finally we will visit the central park of Sarchí, where the famous largest typical cart in the world is located, recognized by the Guinness Book of Records. This impressive work of art represents the cultural legacy and artisanal tradition that has brought this community international fame.

An ideal excursion for those who want to discover the essence of Costa Rica through its volcanoes, its coffee, its history and its most authentic traditions.
